How to Unlock the FC 27 Transfer Market
A new Ultimate Team club cannot trade on day one. The Transfer Market is locked twice over, once inside the game and once more in EA's Web App and Companion App, and each lock opens on its own schedule. Here is how to open both, and what to check when trading stays shut.
Quick answer
Why the FC 27 Transfer Market starts locked
EA calls the system Graduated Access. Its help article says that limiting Transfer Market access for new accounts helps protect the economy from rule-breaking activity. In practice, coin farms and throwaway accounts set up only to move coins have to put in real playing time before they can reach the Transfer Market.
For an honest player the cost is small. The required Objectives are beginner tasks you would play anyway, and they pay packs, players and coins along the way.
Two Transfer Market locks, not one
This is where most people get stuck. Finishing the in-game steps does nothing for the Transfer Market inside EA's apps. EA states plainly that completing Graduated Access doesn't automatically unlock the Web and Companion apps.
| Where you trade | What opens the Transfer Market | Typical wait |
|---|---|---|
| Console (in the game) | Three Foundations Objective groups | Up to 24 hours after the last group |
| PC (in the game) | The same three Objective groups | Up to 48 hours after the last group |
| Web App and Companion App | Active days: matches and an app visit sharing one UTC date | Usually 2 active days; at least 4 with other accounts on the device |
Returning players can skip one or both locks, as explained further down.
Step by step: the in-game unlock
The steps are identical on every platform, and everything happens in the Objectives menu of Ultimate Team.
- 1
Open Ultimate Team, then Objectives
Find the starter chain EA calls Foundations. The three groups below open the Transfer Market only when you finish them in this order.
- 2
Complete The Journey Begins
The first required group. Its rewards are yours to keep whether or not you ever trade.
- 3
Complete First Team Dreams
The second required group. Finish every Objective in it before moving on.
- 4
Complete Rising Through the Ranks
This third group is the trigger for the Transfer Market. It also opens Champions for your club.
- 5
Wait for full access
Full Transfer Market access arrives within a day on consoles and within two days on computers.
What you can do during the wait
The wait is not a full lockout. You can list items on the Transfer Market right away; you just cannot search, bid or use Buy Now yet. Put duplicates and pack pulls you will not use up for sale, so FC 27 coins start arriving before you can spend them.
The Journey Begins and the rest of Foundations
The Journey Begins is the first group in Foundations, EA's starter chain for FC 27. The full chain has six groups:
- The Journey Begins
- First Team Dreams
- Rising Through the Ranks
- Market Madness
- Chasing Greatness
- Total Football
Only the first three stand between you and the Transfer Market. The other three are optional, but their rewards include Player Items, packs and coins, so they are worth finishing in your first week.
Ignore guides that name groups such as New Beginnings or Venturing Out. Those come from older games and do not match EA's FC 27 article.
Console and PC: what differs
The unlock steps match everywhere. Three things do not.
- The wait. Up to 24 hours on PlayStation, Xbox and Switch, and up to 48 hours on PC.
- The Transfer Market you join. EA merged the PlayStation and Xbox markets in FIFA 23, and FC 27 trackers still show one shared console Transfer Market, with PC and Switch trading on their own.
- Your club. Progress carries from PS4 to PS5 and from Xbox One to Series X|S, but never between PlayStation and Xbox, and PC keeps a separate club. Coins cannot be moved between platforms or accounts.
On a computer, whichever launcher you start FC 27 from (EA app, Steam or Epic Games Store), your club is tied to the EA Account behind it, and that is the account to use in the Web App.
Returning players: you may already have access
EA's in-game rule is simple: eligible returning players in good standing skip the Objective requirement and already have Transfer Market access.
The Web App and Companion App have their own rule for returning players. Your Transfer Market access could carry into launch if your account is in good standing and you had unlocked trading in an earlier game before that game's cut-off date:
- FC 26, unlocked before August 1, 2026
- FC 25, unlocked before August 1, 2025
- FC 24, unlocked before August 1, 2024
Eligible players got the Web App on September 16, 2026, at 1pm ET (10am PT), and the Companion App at the same hour the next day, both ahead of the September 25 launch. Early entry also required a club created on the same platform in FC 24, FC 25 or FC 26 before August 1, 2026, on an account still in good standing.
How to unlock the Web App Transfer Market
Everyone else earns Transfer Market access in the Web App and Companion App by playing. EA weighs three things: your account standing and rule history, how many Ultimate Team accounts have been used on the same device, and your number of active days.
What counts as an active day
An active day needs both halves on the same UTC calendar day, counted per Ultimate Team account:
- three full Ultimate Team matches played to the final whistle, and
- opening either app, in a browser or on your phone, while signed in with that same EA Account.
With an account in good standing that is the only Ultimate Team account ever used on the device, EA says access normally comes after 2 active days. If other accounts were created or used there, expect at least 4. Extra matches on one day do not speed it up.
The UTC trap for US players
The day runs on UTC, so a US evening can straddle two days. Until clocks fall back on November 1, 2026, a new UTC day starts at 8pm Eastern, 7pm Central, 6pm Mountain and 5pm Pacific. From November 1 each of those moves an hour earlier, to 7pm Eastern and 4pm Pacific. Play three matches at 7pm Eastern in October, open the Web App at 9pm, and the two halves land on different UTC days, so neither day counts. Do both inside the same window.
No shortcut through support
EA advisors have no way to switch on the Web App Transfer Market, and they cannot give you a date for it. An in-game message lets you know once the Transfer Market opens in the apps. Until then, the only lever you control is stacking qualifying days.
The November 7, 2026 login deadline
EA set a cut-off for app-only clubs. After 11:59:50pm UTC on November 7, 2026, which is 6:59pm ET or 3:59pm PT, the Web App and Companion App keep working only for accounts that have signed in to FC 27 Ultimate Team on a console or PC at least once. If you have run your club only from the Web App since early access, launch the game before then.
Transfer Market bans and how they carry over
An FC 26 Transfer Market ban stays in FC 26, but it costs you automatic access, so you start the unlock from scratch. A franchise-level ban covering FC games does carry over.
When the apps block an account, the Web App shows a message saying it has been blocked from using the Transfer Market on the Web and Companion Apps for breaking EA's rules. EA's rules also say that using the Transfer Market for coin buying or distribution can lead it to limit or revoke your access both in the apps and in the game itself.
Typical mistakes when the Transfer Market stays locked
- Starting a group without finishing it. Open Objectives and confirm that all three required groups show as complete.
- Expecting instant access. Count the hours since Rising Through the Ranks against the waits above. If you can list but not search, you are still inside that window.
- Counting days in local time. Web App active days follow UTC, not your time zone.
- Quitting matches early. EA asks for full matches, so one you leave before the end may not count.
- Mixing accounts. The Web App and the game must use the same EA Account and platform.
- Sharing a device. If anyone else plays Ultimate Team on your console or computer, plan for at least four qualifying days.
- Ignoring warnings. Your rule history affects the wait, so look for any EA message about your account.
- Calling support to speed it up. Advisors have no button for it.
Once the Transfer Market is open
Every item has a range
EA sets a minimum and maximum coin value for each item you list on the Transfer Market and does not publish the limits, so be skeptical of any site that lists exact numbers.
The 5% EA tax
When an item sells, EA keeps 5% of the final amount and you get the rest. Buying and listing are not taxed. Our tax calculator for FC 27 sales shows your net and break-even before you list.
Unlock it before you order FC 27 coins
Comfort Trade delivery of FC 27 coins runs in the Web App through ordinary Transfer Market trades, so a locked Transfer Market can hold up an order. Finish the steps above first, then read how Comfort Trade delivery works. When you are ready, you can get FC 27 coins for PS5, Xbox or PC and compare FC 27 coins prices across platforms. EA's rules prohibit buying coins from third parties, so weigh that risk before you decide.
Transfer Market unlock questions
Why is my FC 27 Transfer Market locked?
Usually your club has not finished all three required Objective groups, or the wait after Rising Through the Ranks is still running. That wait lasts up to a day on PlayStation and Xbox and up to two days on PC. The Web App has its own Transfer Market lock that needs active days. A rules violation or a market ban can also keep the Transfer Market closed.
How many days until I can trade on the Transfer Market?
In the game, it takes as long as the three beginner Objective groups take you, plus a wait of up to 24 hours on consoles or 48 on PC. In the Web App and Companion App, an account in good standing normally needs two active days. When the same device has hosted other Ultimate Team accounts, plan for four or more.
Is the Web App Transfer Market open for me right away?
Maybe. Open the Web App under the same EA Account your FC 27 club uses. If you had trading rights in any of the last three games, from FC 24 to FC 26, and your account is in good standing, the Transfer Market may already be open there. Everyone else needs active days: UTC dates on which you complete three Ultimate Team matches and also open either app. Two is the usual number.
Will playing more matches open the Web App market faster?
No. EA counts qualifying days, not total matches. A day qualifies when you finish three full Ultimate Team matches and also open the Web App or Companion App before that UTC calendar day ends. EA says that playing more than three matches on a given day does not improve your chances, so spread your effort over separate days instead.
Does an FC 26 Transfer Market ban carry over to FC 27?
Not as a ban. An FC 26 Transfer Market ban stays with that game, but it costs you automatic access, so you earn trading again from scratch, both on your console or computer and in the browser. A franchise-level ban that covers FC games is different: that one does follow you into FC 27, and the unlock steps on this page cannot lift it.
